The Popular Batman Begins Batmobile

The Batman Begins Batmobile was designed by the team of Christopher Nolan and Norman Crowley. Mild mannered millionaire Bruce Wayne’s care was a Lamborghini Murcielago Roadster.  Just like the Superman movies, perhaps the Batman movies had worn out their welcome.  Now after an eight year break form the last movie it was time to begin filming again.

The writers were looking for a new beginning for the caped crusader not just another sequel.  One concept to this idea was an entirely new Batmobile.   However the new Batman Begins vehicle was never known as the Batmobile; it was referred to as the Tumbler.  It was said to look like the cross between a Hummer and a Lamborghini.  It is also said to resemble a driving boat.  Actually, there was more than one Batmobile created for Batman Returns.  There were five different ones to be exact.  For filming which involved the outside of the automobile there were two models built.  There were two full-size vehicles made also - one was created solely for the scenes which contained jumping shots  and the other was equipped with propane tanks.  Another functioned as a model created for the most critical stunt scenes.

The inside of the Tumbler (the Batman Begins Batmobile) was really a set in the studio being filmed and not the inside of the automobile.  There were different versions of the car built for filming various scenes and to serve other purposes in the movie.  The Batmobile used in Batman Begins is real and it was used as a pace car in one of the main NASCAR races which took place in 2005.  It has a Chevy V-8 engine (5.7 liter).   The 5,000 pound car can go from zero to sixty mph in only 5 seconds.

In the movie Batman Beyond we find that the dark knight – Bruce Wayne has retired himself from the role of Batman altogether.  A new youngster is taking on the role as the vengeance seeking caped crusader.  Another change once again was in Batman Begins 3.  There was no Catwoman or Penguin it seems as though batman fans were growing tired of them and wanted to see new characters.  The Batman character Hush which was created for DC Comic Books was though to be the best work ever produced by creator James Lee.
